a premium experience
Originally developed for fruit production, until 2006, the property was acquired by US veterinarian citizen to create a premium US standard ranch for growing and train horses and also as a refuge for non curable or retired animals.
In 2020, we acquired the property falling in love with the Hacienda and the surrounding pristine tropical environment. This new departure has been followed by the acquisition of new lands on both sides of the Chires river which gave the current size of the property, 100 hectares (250 acres) of wilderness with 1.6 km (1 mile) of river flowing all year round and several hills providing crazy views on the Talamanca mountains and the Pacific ocean.

We offer you the possibility to invest as an actor of the climate change. Participate to our reforestation program “10,000 trees for the planet” by donating for trees. The donation includes:
- the selection and acquisition of trees
- the plantation of your trees for extending the restorating of creeks or create new bilogical corridors for mamals (monkeys, sloths, big cats, etc.)
- maintain the trees during mínimum 10 years
- replanting new one in case they do not survive the first 3 years`
- Keep a data base to link all trees to the donators. We enjoy showing the trees to the donator if they come back after a few years.
- The name of the donators inscribed on a plaque

Peaceful Environment
We discover the Hacienda Las Colinas thanks to a recommendation from friends. No regret at all ! Something to visit absolutely in Costa Rica. The visit of this huge property combining primary forest, plantations of Cacao and Vanilla, and a reforestation part to recreate secondary forest, is just… no word to describe the positive atmosphere. We will come back because the lodges are so great with incredible views on the mountains and horse pastures.

Just crazy what the owners of this hacienda have created ! I went there for a horse riding tour. For sure I will come back with my husband and friends to stay a few days. The lodges and the swimming pool are gorgeous !

Probably, one of our best experience of horse riding, with so nice and easy to ride horses. First time for my girl friend to ride a horse, the tour is very well organised with the first part with a trading to learn a bit and also for us to create the right contact with our horse. the guide is a fantastic experienced cow boy with a lot of empathy. thank you so much !
